Decision to emigrate

During the lockdown of 2020, I was stuck in South Africa (my home country). I witnessed first hand how poor policies lead to unnecessary hardship: First the government made draconian regulations in order to fight the Covid. The general public ignored the measures. So the result was not to flatten the curve, but merely to delay it by a few weeks (if that much).

In 2021 another disaster affected us: A municipal substation broke down and we were left without electrical power for a week.

At this point, I started looking at my options to emigrate. My extensive research pointed at the Republic of Georgia as the most viable option: They are in the top 10 freest economies in the world. And there is already a growing community of South Africans.
